Big East and JUMP TV
The Sports Business Daily and the SportsBusiness Journal are reporting that the Big East Conference has formed a partnership with JumpTV.
JumpTV To Produce Big East's Web Site
JumpTV Inc. and the Big East Conference have struck a new multi-year pact in which the Orlando-based online video outfit will design and power the organization's newly expanded video content portal, located at BigEast.TV. JumpTV, which in July purchased the broadband business of XOS Technologies for $60.25M, will produce the conference's entire Web site at BigEast.org. But the centerpiece of that effort will be the branded online video channel, marking the first BCS conference to align itself in this fashion with JumpTV. Also in the works for BigEast.org are an official online photo store and auction offerings. The Big East had been producing its online content with CSTV Online for more than two years, but selected JumpTV after an extensive RFP process. Aiding the new structure will be the Big East's new six-year TV contract with ESPN in which the conference retained extensive digital rights for itself once ESPN's live broadcasts conclude. "We weren't unhappy with CSTV, but right now, this relationship better matches up with what our vision is and where we intend to go," said John Marinatto, Big East Senior Associate Commissioner.
