Nick Williams in the Final Four: Watch it LIVE on the Web

REMINDER
MU signee Nick Williams will lead the defending state champion LeFlore Rattlers against Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa at 1:30pm CST on Thursday in the Alabama high school final four.

If you can't make the drive to Birmingham, do not despair - - - fans can watch the game live on the Web by clicking on this link. Judging by the action streaming this afternoon, the video quality should be tremendous. Additional real-time resources can be found here.

Here's a preview of today's game from Mike Herndon at the Birmingham paper.

The Rattlers roll into the state semifinals with a gaudy 30-2 record. LeFlore is ranked #1 in the state and #12 in the nation. Williams was the MVP of the South Regional Tournament, and his coach could not say enough about the young man:
"What can I say? Nick Williams," said LeFlore coach Otis Hughley, whose Rattlers improved to 30-2 and beat Baldwin County for the fourth time this season. "He's just one of those throwback, old-school fundamental ballplayers."

  1. Sounds a little like D. Wade, doesn't it?

  2. This guy is gonna be a fkin stud. He's similar to Wade in that he is under the radar and not a great outside shooter at the moment. This is by far Crean's best recruiting class. Tayshawn Taylor plays for a team w 7 or 8 D1 players so his stats are very misleading. Fulce has been outstanding in JUCO, a top 5 player in some lists and Otule has surprised a lot of people particularly defensively. Add Erik Williams(assuming his ankle heals) in 2009 and our team will have it all for Hayward's senior season. Athleticism, depth, great guards, and an inside game. Mark my word this will be a top 10 team all season and will have Final Four potential. I cannot wait to watch MU b-ball the next 4 years.

    Projected starters 2009-10

    N.Williams
    T.Taylor
    L.Hayward
    T.Mbakwe
    E.Williams

    Bench
    Acker
    Cubillian
    Cristopherson
    Fulce
    Otule

*Acker may start at the pt and Taylor or Williams could be 6th man. We also could get another recruit or 2.

  3. Any chance Christopherson heads for the exit? Looks like he has been recruited over.

  4. It is hard to "mark the words" of an anonymous man.

I'm really excited about the direction of the program, too. But I think that this year and next year are really the start of big things.

  5. I think Christopherson will stay as a 3pt specialist, but we are loaded at the guard position.

  6. If Nick Williams and his team ends up winning this year, that will make him a two time state champion, and he is the only returning starter this year.

    WINNER

  12. Wow. Nice way to end the first half - was that 24-24 feet? Full on pull up jumper?

  13. Well, that was a heck of a game. A shame LeFlore lost like that, but that's high school basketball for you - a deficit is so hard to overcome at that level.

  14. Kind of a bummer ending for NW. Looks like he had a strong game, but perhaps got shut down a bit in the second half. In looking at the box score I'm glad to see that his 25 points did not take him 37 shots - efficient and perhaps good at recognizing a good shot. Good free throws as well.

    I Like.

Looking forward to his next official game as a Warrior.

  15. Our team will be so deep over the next few years they will have to post a 'no swimming' sign.
