Congrats to Doc Rivers, NBA Champion

For the second time in three years, a Marquette graduate is an NBA Champion.

Congratulations to Doc Rivers, head coach of the 2008 NBA Champion Boston Celtics!

  1. How sweet it was last night! Go Doc. How any of his critics can say he can't coach after watching the Celtics incredible passing and defense is beyond me. I never thought I'd see Kobe completely shutdown like that, but they were playing defense with the same intensity that Doc used to play defense.

  2. Don't forget that Doc's also on the Board of Trustees.

  3. Nice Marquette plug by Dwyane at halftime, too.

  5. Yes on the Wade plug of Marquette. I was watching in a rowdy restuarant with no sound so couldn't hear Wade's comments, but had non-Marquette people coming up to me the same day and saying things like, "I had no idea Doc Rivers went to Marquette until Wade said at halftime he thought Doc would win because he was a good Marquette guy" or something like that. Talk about having 2 class acts in the NBA to advertise MU!

  6. We have two more class players in the NBA in Diener and Novak. Just not as popular or famous. Guess Marquette is just a class place.

  7. Yes! I did not mean to shortchange either Novak or Diener. Diener also took off this year, and Novak looked ready at the end of the year.

  8. Guess this is finally one sign of the lasting impact Hank Raymonds had on the program.

As a head coach, it is about the only thing Hank did right.

    Go Doc!
