As reported first by Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, Buzz Williams completed his 2009 freshman class today when highly regarded point guard Junior Cadougan from Humble, TX verbally committed to Marquette University. Cadougan, a 6'1" 195 pound point guard from Humble Christian Academy, committed to MU over Memphis and Wake Forest.
Cadougan, a Canadian native who moved to Houston after his freshman year of high school, was recently named the top playmaker at the NBPA Top 100 Camp and will participate in Reebok U this week in Philadelphia.
Cadougan rounds out a promising 2009 class which includes three RSCI top 100 players, the first at Marquette since the Three Amigos. Cadougan (#70) will be joined by Erik Williams (#78) and Jeronne Maymon (#85) and soon-to-be redshirted Liam McMorrow as freshmen in 2009.
Much more to come on the Cadougan commitment and the early returns on Buzz Williams' fast start on the recruiting trail..........
Excellent work, Buzz. So far, it appears MU made an excellent hire, wouldn't you say?
ReplyDeleteBuzz has done an excellent job with recruiting, however we need to keep in mind that getting the players here is only half the battle (if that). Getting the players to mesh, develop, mature and most importantly, play well together is very important.
ReplyDeleteI'd be reluctant to call it a "great hire" until we see him on the sidelines with the bright lights shining.
By the way I'm a HUGE fan of CS, and have a loyal reader for quite some time now. This is my first time commenting, and I hope to do so much more often. Keep up the great work guys!
ReplyDeleteWalter,
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments today.
What he's done thus far is pretty incredible. TC was a bad game coach, yes a bad game coach. So I'm really not too worried. The "meshing" thing has already begun and even if he just lets them play this year that is much better than anything TC could draw up. TC typically let DJ jog the ball up court with 5 seconds left or after TO's would throw the inbounds pass away from our basket with 4 seconds on the clock. Buzz will be an above average game coach.
Congrats Buzz and Marquette!
